We travel a lot as a family.  Swen and I have only taken very few trips just the two of us. We love them but we love to travel with our boys even more. We sometimes feel nostalgic visiting some amazing destination and not being able to share it with them – we spend half the time saying “Ohhh Mateo would have loved this! or “Lucas would be dying to see that!” – sad.

Mateo’s about to graduate (insert crying emoji here). Last year we made a college visits trip to Cali and I wished I had a place to blog a little about it.  It was pretty memorable, so here’s to the one year anniversary of this family trip!

The schedule was packed, out trip was literally mapped out by hour and day and we were on a roll! Even though it wasn’t a leisure trip per-say, we still enjoyed every moment and every new place we visited (mostly college campuses – and that’s ok – it was fun to get a feel for them). We definitely still got to enjoy some leisure time and be all touristy and meet up with a couple of friends. Being constantly surrounded by palm trees and blue skies every which way I looked, just did for me! Not having to wear a winter jacket…even better!

I don’t know about you, but in our family, food determines our daily schedules when we travel.“We live to eat” – we do! We enjoy savoring new and exciting foods.We usually plan out our itineraries in advance (before the trip) depending on what restaurant we’ll be visiting each day either for lunch or dinner. Good food just makes for a much more enjoyable vacation – at least in our eyes!
